Submitted by a reader as a workbook. The formulas got stripped on open.
The Incident — For a two-night cabin trip involving four adults, my friend Simone circulated a workbook with eleven tabs, among them MEAL MATRIX, DRIVER ROTATION, and a locked tab named CONTINGENCIES. We were asked to confirm receipt in writing.
The Response — I confirmed receipt with a workbook of my own: a formal audit of hers. Nine findings, severity-coded, each with a recommended remediation. Finding 4 observed that sunscreen appears twice at the line level with no consolidation. Finding 7 questioned whether a two-night trip requires a driver rotation. Finding 9 requested access to CONTINGENCIES. Access was denied in writing.
The Escalation — Her response arrived within the hour: a remediation plan, a consolidated sunscreen line, and a formal comment disputing Finding 7, which she lost, because I had mileage data. My audit now lives as a tab inside her master workbook, titled AUDIT, where my findings are tracked against her responses with completion percentages. The trip itself has not yet occurred.
Current Friendship Status — Recursive. A second audit, covering the remediation plan, is in draft. She knows. She has requested it.
